Mobile Phone and GPS

Good morning all.
I have been using a Tom Tom for some years now and have been very happy with
it's performance, however I am thinking a mobile phone with GPS capabilities
could be better for me, not having any experience of these gadgets, could
anyone give me some advice on what to buy. I only need UK coverage really,
but quality is my first consideration. Thank you for any help.
I've got a Nokia E71 and it's pretty darned good at knowing where you
are if you've been sat on the top of a hill and had a long picnic. In
central london a couple of weeks ago it wook about 3 hours to work out
where I was.
My Garmin knew where I was.
