I think he wants to put it in his trouser or inside jacket pocket too,
so it shouldn't be too big.
I was thinking maybe if it clips into an enclosure that clips onto the
bike handle bar. THen he could keep it on his bike (Which is safest),
and he could put it in his pocket if he wants.

note- he might want an mp3 player with GPS too. *Though perhaps some
time in the future.. 'cos im not sure that it's available or even if
it is, if reasonably priced yet.

I would add, based on them..

He is not very technical, so a pocket pc with separate GPS unit, is
not suitable.
He would want something that you just turn on and it works.

He isn't looking to spend more than £180. Ideally really = £130

waterproof, FM radio, headphones.

I don't want it to be a mobile phone thing. And it should be a 1
unit GPS device.
It is for his cycling.

note- I actually have a pocket PC with separate GPS unit, in my car.
It's great for me, but not for him.
