I need to replace a StreetPilot 2610, trying to determine which
current models (Garmin or other mfg) are closest in functionality and user interface. Any ideas? Thanks! -- I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it. ....Groucho Marx |

Well, if you're looking for the geeky extra functions of the 2610 (that the current more dumbed-down models lack), then head to eBay for another 2610. If you're looking for the crappy low-res screen of the 2610, then all the Nuvi's blow it away. Costco's selling the nuvi 765t (Bluetooth, lifetime traffic, speaking street names, etc.) along with the lifetime map data updates for a total of $250. Can hardly beat that, I just bought two of these seven months ago for $370 each. And you'll sure like the smaller size/lighter weight of these things. A lot faster too. Turn instructions are much better timed, the recovery from a missed turn is wayyy faster than the 2610s... |

If you don't mind going with another discontinued model I would look at
the 2820. I have both units and the 2820 is quite an improvement over the 2610. If you want to go into a Nuvi model, I would recommend the 855. |

I just replace my 2610 last fall for a nuvi 765t. I love it much
better than the 2610. |

I replaced my 2610 with the 765t and it is great. One other thing to
consider is the database with Mapsource. You don't get that any more but I had Mapsource from the 2610 on the PC. Oh you get one map update with it ( at least mine did). When I connected the 765t to the computer and downloaded the 2010 update it installed it in Mapsource as well as on the 765t. Having the database on the PC is a great benefit. You can also download and upload the tracks and favorites between them. "pete" wrote in message ... I just replace my 2610 last fall for a nuvi 765t.
