For those that prefer the number 76 in their update filenames I just
got an email from Garmin announcing the release of the 76C and 76CS
3.50 firmware updates.

Stuart,

thanks. Just downloaded the 76C file and updated again after
using the 60C file before.

I did a file compare and found that the 60C and 76C files are
not identical, though the 60C file seemed to work perfectly on
my 76C.

The files you downloaded from Garmin are ZIP files. You need to unzip
them and compare the firmware inside.

Stuart,

slapping my="forehead" / of course you're right. How could I
overlook that.

Did it and found them to be entirely equal. The only difference
is the non-functional text file or at least its file name.

You'll find (if you check) that the 60C/60CS/76C/76CS are all the
same.

The only difference is the non-functional text file or at least its file name.

The 60C/76C text files are smaller because Garmin removes all
references to the Barometer/Altimeter & Compass functions from the
change history (since those units don't have them).
