I've only ever seen SDHC advertised in sizes of 4 Gig and up. I'm always
willing to learn.

I'd not mind trying a 4Gig SD card, which is also allowed by the
standard, if I can find one. I've got a couple of SD-only units that
could use the memory boost.

Still waiting... :-)

Sorry, what are you waiting for? I was just warning that 2GB SDHC cards
were offered and so there may still be some around on store shelves:
http://www.techniz.co.uk/atp-promax-...-networks.html I
don't know that anyone cares enough whether you try one out or not to spend
time finding one for you.

You said they are available, I said they aren't. You obviously cared
enough about my statement that they're not to call me a liar, so I
though maybe you'd be willing to prove me wrong. Oh, well...

We could both have learnt something.

much practical difference.
But don't expect an SDHC card to work.

I noticed that, thanks. Is there an easy way to identify a fast card
that is not SDHC?

Yup. It's 2Gig or under. SDHC is over 2Gig. (Secure Digital High Capacity)

It'll also be boasting about high speed on the package and card.

Not necessarily a recommendation, although I've used them successfully
in other applications:-

http://uk.sandisk.com/Products/Item(...II_SD_2GB.aspx

Thanks your your advice. I picked one up at Argos.

I tried to install it using tomtom HOME but this was unsuccessful. It
seemed to work but at the end said there was no map installed. The
instructions were less than helpful telling me to make a back-up with
the SD card removed (when tomtom ONE does not work without the card).

In the end I just reformatted the new SD card and copied across all
the files using the computer. (I know you need to include hidden
files but my computer was already set up to do that.) So mission
successfully accomplished.

Yes, it will not say HC and it will not have a Class 2/4/6 on the
package.

Yup. It's 2Gig or under. SDHC is over 2Gig. (Secure Digital High

2Gig or more, so watch out.

2Gig is not SDHC.
Be careful, 2GB card are available in both SD and SDHC specifications.

I think Mr. Williamson wants to learn the hard way.

That links to a review. Other links using that as a search term lead to
what seem to be the same review, which appears to be a manufacturer's
press release.

Following the clues to the manufacturer's website doen not show them to
be admitting to making a 2GB SDHC card. It's probable the review was for
a prototype which hasn't made it to market.

http://www.atpinc.com/p2-4a.php?sn=00000159

Shows a picture of the card in question, clearly marked as SD, not SDHC.

Can you point me to where you contradicted me and wrote that these cards
were not available or where I (or anyone else) in this thread has called
you a liar? I appear to have missed those posts. This seems to be a
pretty friendly group and I'm sorry you believe people are attacking you.

I said:-

You said:-

(a) There's no "t' in Ciao.
(b) No one called you a liar.
(c) I must be imagining this 2GB SDHC Sandisk Extreme III SD Card in my
camera.

(a) Deliberately mis-spelt, and has been for years.

(c) I must be imagining this 2GB SDHC Sandisk Extreme III SD Card in my

I note you call it an SD card, not an SDHC card.... High *speed* SD
card, yes....

From Sandisk website:-

http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item...SDHC_16GB.aspx

Select the 2GB size in the product box, it shows SD, not SDHC, both in
the picture and the description.

sigh No I caled it a SDHC Sandisk Extreme III (SD Card). And I
provided URLs for two SDHC 2GB cards.

From Sandisk website:-

http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item...anDisk_Extreme
_III_SDHC_16GB.aspx

Select the 2GB size in the product box, it shows SD, not SDHC, both in
the picture and the description.

Both of which, when you check the part numbers on the makers' websites
are billed as high speed SD cards, not SDHC. I'd have thought they would
know.

Thank you for correcting both my and their misapprehensions.

The card that I have carries the SDHC logo. As Mr Gold has already
informed you there are several possibilities, you're looking at the
wrong card, the manufacturers have found no market for 2GB SDHC and have
withdrawn the items and the most likely one, you're a troll.

Thank you for correcting both my and their misapprehensions.
